Creep Band

What is Creep Band?

Creep Band is a free music game made with twikoi's art. Her creatures stand on a little stage, and below them is a grid: steps go left to right, notes go up. Put a creature on a square and it sings that note on its step, in its own voice.

Every voice comes from her drawing: big creatures sing low and little ones sing high, horned ones sound like a horn, winged ones whistle, open mouths sing "aah", plants ring like wood, round ones like bells, and the bugs play the drums.

Gigs give the music a goal: copy a tune by ear, fill in the missing steps, fix the notes that are wrong, or make your own song that meets a few goals. There is a new daily tune for everyone, and a studio where you can make anything and share it as a short song code.

How to play

1. Put a creature on the stage. Pick a creature in your tray, then tap a square. Higher squares sing higher notes. Tap it again to take it off, or slide it to another square.
2. Listen and copy. In a copy gig, 👂 plays the tune. Put the creatures where you hear them, then ✓ Check: a tick or a cross above each step shows which steps are right.
3. Fill and fix. Some gigs have missing steps (marked ?) or creatures on the wrong note. Listen, then fill the gaps or slide them to the right square.
4. Make a song. Some gigs have goals instead of a tune, like a drum on every beat or three creatures singing at once. The goals tick as you build; 🎤 Perform when you are ready. Each goal is a star.
5. Stuck? 💡 shows one right note (or the one that does not belong). The first gig of all is a short lesson you play.

• Every creature has its own voice, worked out from her drawing: size sets low or high, and horns, wings, open mouths, plants, round shapes and bugs each have their own sound.

Gigs

48 gigs in 6 chapters, from three-note tunes to a big band with drums. Clearing gigs adds their creatures to your band, opens new scales and stage looks, and earns her pictures as posters.

Daily tune

One new tune a day for everyone. Copy it with as few checks as you can and share your result.

Studio

Make anything with your band, save it in one of four slots or share it as a song code.

Tips

• Listen to who sings: the creature on the stage hops when it sings, so you can see who and when, and hear how high.
• Find the first note first: most tunes start on step 1 and end on a home note (the rows marked ⌂).
• After a check, only change the steps with a cross.
• Big drums are on the bottom rows and ticks on the top ones.
• In the studio, try 🎲 Jam for a quick tune, then change a few notes.

Creep Band is for anyone who likes making little tunes, from first-timers putting three notes on the stage to players copying sixteen-step tunes with drums by ear.

It is also for fans of twikoi's art: every singer, drummer, light and poster is one of her drawings, and each creature's voice comes from how she drew it.
