What is Creep Contraption?
Creep Contraption is a free chain-reaction machine puzzle made with twikoi's creatures. Each page is a half-built machine: a planet or a snack waiting on a hatch, a few shelves, and a goal.
Drag parts from the tray onto the page (ramps, springs, dominoes, seesaws, fans, belts and bugs), tap them to turn them, and press Go. The hatches open, and her planets roll, bounce and topple until the bell rings, the sleeper wakes, the star lights up, the snack drops into the pot or the balloon pops.
How to play
- Place a part: drag it from the tray onto the page. It floats above your finger and snaps to the dots. Drag it again to move it, or back to the tray to take it away.
- Tap to turn: ramps tilt, springs aim, seesaws flip, fans turn eight ways, belts and bugs go the other way.
- Press Go and watch. Didn't work? Your parts stay where they are, and a dotted path shows where things went. Change one part and go again.
- Three stars: one for a machine that works, one for using no more parts than the ๐งฉ number, one for being done before the โฑ time.
- Stuck? ๐ก shows a machine that works (dotted) and says why. With a hint a page gives up to two stars.
Features
- 70 pages in seven chapters, each adding one idea: ramps, springs, dominoes, seesaws, fans and balloons, bugs and belts, and grand machines with two goals.
- Every page comes with a recorded machine that our test plays back in the real physics: each one works with three stars, doing nothing never works, and taking away any one of its parts makes it fail.
- Most pages work more than one way, and the game counts every different way you find.
- Made for fingers: parts float above your finger while you drag, snap to the dots, and turn with a tap. Big buttons, and it works with a mouse and keyboard too.
- A lesson you play (with a near miss on purpose), hints that show a machine that works and say why, a book of the creatures you met, picture pages and a daily machine to share.
Modes, levels and unlocks
- Chapters
- Roll along, Boing, Topple, Seesaw, Breeze, Creepy crawly and Grand machines. Each chapter opens after 7 pages of the one before, and ends with a guest.
- Daily machine
- One page a day, the same for everyone, with the same creatures, and a result to share.
- Lesson
- Three little pages that teach dragging a ramp, tapping it steeper after a near miss, and finding your own way.
Tips
- Press Go early: watching where the planet goes without your part shows you where the part should be.
- A steeper ramp means more speed; a flatter one lets things land gently.
- Springs push along their arrow. Tap one to aim it before you press Go.
- Dominoes need a shelf under their feet, and no gap wider than one domino in the row.
- Fans blow light things far and heavy things only a little: balloons fly, big planets barely move.
- Once a page works, try it with fewer parts, or find a completely different way.
Who will like Creep Contraption?
Creep Contraption is for anyone who likes to tinker and watch something work, from a single ramp on the first page to two-goal grand machines later on.
It is also for fans of twikoi's art: her planets roll, her tall creatures topple on dominoes, her ants walk, and her big tee designs wait as guests.
