What is Creep Crossword?

Creep Crossword is a free little crossword made with twikoi's drawings. The grids are small: 3 by 3 and 4 by 4 to start, then 5 by 5, so one takes a few minutes.

Tap a square and the yellow strip shows the word you are filling; its clue sits in the bar under the grid. Type on a big alphabet keyboard made for thumbs. Tap the same square again to turn from Across to Down. When a word is right it shines, and her creatures on top of the grid hop and cheer.

Every grid has exactly one way to fit its answers, checked by our test. Every answer is a common word, and every clue was written for this game. Where it fits, a clue shows one of her drawings, and it is always true about that picture.

How to play

Tap a square. The yellow strip is the word, and the clue is under the grid. Tap it again to turn Across or Down.
Type on the big keys. You hop to the next square by yourself; ⌫ rubs out. Words that cross share a letter.
Picture clues. Some clues show one of her drawings: look closely, the clue is true about it.
Stuck? ✓ Check shows wrong letters, 💡 Reveal fills them in, ✎ Pencil writes light guesses, 📋 shows every clue.
Stars. One for solving it, two with no Reveal, three with no Reveal, no Check and inside the time.

Modes, levels and unlocks

Packs: Eight packs from 3 by 3 to 5 by 5. A pack opens after 6 puzzles of the one before, and each has one of her big designs as its guest.
Daily: One 5 by 5 grid a day, the same for everyone, with a result to share and a streak.
Lesson: A 3 by 3 you play step by step: pick a square, type, turn the strip, use the crossing letter, jump to the next clue.

Tips

Start with the clue you are surest of: its letters help every word that crosses it.
Short words first: a three-letter answer often gives away the corner.
Not sure? Turn on ✎ Pencil and write a light guess; the crossing words will tell you.
A word that shines is right, so a full word that does not shine has a wrong letter somewhere.
For three stars, try again without Check, and keep an eye on the clock.
