What is Escape the Sketchbook?

Escape the Sketchbook is a free puzzle game made with twikoi's art. You're stuck inside her sketchbook, and every page is a little room drawn from one of her pictures, with her drawings on the shelf, the desk and a garland across the top.

The corner of every page is stuck shut with a little clasp. Find the key: lift a pot, turn a picture upright, give a snack to whoever is sitting on the box, follow the ants, count her little drawings for the dials, put a torn note back together. Then unstick the corner and turn the page.

Every page is built from a little tree of puzzles, and our test solves every one of them by trying every possible move, and checks that you can never get stuck.

How to play

  1. Tap to look. Tap anything on the page to look at it. Some things move, open or turn.
  2. Pick things up. Things you can take glow; tap one and it goes into your bag at the bottom.
  3. Use things. Tap something in your bag to pick it, then tap where to use it on the page. Tap one thing in your bag and then another to put them together. Tap a picked thing again to see it up close.
  4. Open locks. Dials, picture buttons and nine dots. The clue is always on the page: count the little drawings, or find the note that shows the order.
  5. Turn the page. When the corner's clasp is open, tap the corner to escape.
  6. Stuck? ๐Ÿ’ก gives a small nudge first, then points at the thing, then tells you exactly what to do.

Her art in this game

Every picture, pot, key, bone, fruit, moon, star, heart, ant, planet and creature is one of her drawings, shown just as she drew it: only moved, scaled, flipped, turned, faded or given a shadow. The paper, the desk, shelf, boxes, drawers, plate, locks and the dark corner are plain shapes and colours, never painted on her art. The game asks for kinds of drawings (pots, food, moons, stars, creatures, pictures), so new drawings join without changing the game, and every new picture becomes a new page.
