What is Ink Grids?
Ink Grids is a free picture-grid puzzle game (the kind also called nonograms) made from twikoi's drawings. Each row and column has numbers that say how many squares in a row hold ink, in order.
Use the numbers to work out which squares are ink and which are blank. Every grid is checked by a solver before you see it, so it has exactly one answer, and you can always reach it by thinking, one line at a time.
Each grid is the outline of one of her creatures. Finish it and her real drawing fades in on top. Collect all 116 creatures and her 34 little things in your book.
How to play
- Read the numbers. "3 1" means a block of three inked squares, at least one blank, then one more, in that order.
- Tap a square to ink it, or drag along a row or column to ink many at once. A long drag fills a whole row.
- Cross out blanks with the ✕ button (or right-click on a computer), so you remember they are empty.
- Check (top right) shows a mistake the moment you make it and fixes it. Turn it off to play with no help.
- Stuck? The hint lights up a line that can tell you more and explains why. Undo takes back your last move.
- On big grids, pinch or tap Zoom, and drag the numbers to move around. On a computer: arrow keys, Space to ink, X to cross, Z to undo, H for a hint.
Features
- 381 grids made from her drawings: 34 Tiny 5x5 grids for a first try, and every one of her 116 creatures as a 10x10, a 15x15 and a 20x20.
- Every grid has exactly one answer, found with line logic alone: no guessing, ever.
- The reveal: your inked outline turns into her real drawing, which hops out of the grid while her creatures cheer.
- A gentle lesson you play, not read, plus a how-to with little example grids.
- Three stars for no hints and no mistakes, best times, and a picture page from her 22 pictures every 4 grids.
- A daily grid that is the same for everyone, with a result to share and a days-in-a-row count.
- Made for phones: drag to ink, a cross mode, undo, zoom on the big grids, and a check-mistakes switch.
Modes, levels and unlocks
- Grids
- Tiny 5x5, Small 10x10, Medium 15x15 and Large 20x20. Medium opens after 4 Small grids, Large after 4 Medium grids.
- Daily grid
- One grid a day, 10x10 or 15x15, the same for everyone. Share your time, mistakes and hints.
- Lesson
- A little heart that teaches inking, crossing out and reading the numbers, one line at a time.
Tips
- Start with the biggest numbers: a block longer than half the line always covers its middle squares.
- A 0 means the whole line is blank: cross it out first.
- When a line already has all its ink, every other square in it is blank.
- Add up a line's numbers plus one gap between each. If that equals the line's length, the whole line is decided.
- Switch between rows and columns: each square you learn in one helps the other.
